Best Poster Award

Dr Arun Mitra (PhD Scholar with Prof. Biju Soman) has won the Best Poster Award (Student Category) for his paper titled “Leveraging satellite imagery to model spatial risk of dengue: A case study using Google Earth Engine” presented at the SANGAM 2023 - Summit of Academia Networking with Government, Allied health workers And Medical professionals, which took place on June 2-3, 2023, at IIT Bombay in-collaboration with Govt of Maharashtra, and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS).

This work adds to the previous research done by Dr Joanna Valson during her MPH on mapping dengue incidence in the Thiruvananthapuram district using satellite imagery and remote sensing. This work is part of the NAV-i-GEE Research Scholarship Program by Google and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Tirupati, where Dr Arun Mitra has been selected as the NAV-i-GEE Fellow for 2023.
