Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI)

Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) is an innovative Pilot project launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the aegis of the WISE-KIRAN Division.

GATI was one of the three initiatives of DST announced on 28 February 2020, the National Science Day, by the Hon’ble President of India at a celebratory programme dedicated to Women in Science held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology is one of the 30 institutes selected by DST to implement GATI scheme.

We are committed to bring in the transformative changes for Women in STEM as per the GATI charter of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

"I am very happy that Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences, Trivandrum has been selected for the prestigious “Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions” (GATI) initiative conceptualized and started by WISE-KIRAN Division of Department of Science & Technology. It is indeed a commendable gesture from DST to initiate the GATI scheme to cater to the concerns regarding gender equity in STEMM disciplines. I assure our institute’s full support for the successful implementation of GATI program. We are delighted to work collectively with DST and other institutes under the GATI pilot scheme in partnership with Athena SWAN, UK. We hope that this initiative of DST along with the partnership with the well experienced Athena SWAN would bring about drastic changes in the gender advancement in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine.
